19th-c. sailors dancing on deck

The Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival presents traditional American and English folk music. Since the autumn of 2000, we have celebrated our local and national heritage of seafaring and maritime trades by taking nautical songs and music to the pubs, cafés, churches and streets of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The festival is held on the last weekend in September, with free events both Saturday and Sunday. This year’s events were very warmly received, and we look forward to our fourteenth annual festival, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.

The Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival is funded exclusively by the generous donations of local friends, businesses and companies and by fans of maritime music from all over. For the fourth year in a row, Portsmouth’s Celtic Crossing gift shop sponsored our Saturday evening concert – many, many THANKS to Celtic Crossing!!
